When we moved to Gayndah during 2018, we purchased a house that needed some refurbishment. This included doing up inside and outside and adding buildings to meet our needs. We had a shed built in the back yard which gave us room for a work room, a place to park our caravan and a studio. As well as all of that, we needed a space where we could hold out door concerts. So we had the area from the front gate, through the double carport to the shed concreted. This provided an area where up to fifty people could be seated under the carport to watch performances that happened on the “stage” between the carport and the shed.
Initially we held concerts, which we called soirees, featuring items presented by my students as well as the groups which met each week in our studio to rehearse. The success of these led to the members of GAPPS agreeing that it was time to hold a real backyard concert, pay a guest artist to come to town, and charge audience members for the privelege of attending such a concert.
